Education & Experience
Celia J. Melanson is a proud member of the Nova Scotia Bar. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Acadia University (’82), then completed her law studies at Dalhousie University (’85) receiving her Bachelor of Laws Degree.
Celia has maintained a law practice in Shelburne since 1995 when she and her family moved to the area. She has been a valuable member of this fine community ever since.
Past and Present Involvement
Celia is an active member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, a volunteer at the Shelburne Loyalist Food Bank, and a director of the Shelburne Longboat Society. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Osprey Arts Centre and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

Danine Lyle
Danine has served as a legal assistant with the firm of Celia J. Melanson Barrister & Solicitor Inc. for nine years, mainly providing support with Estate Planning and Probate, assisting with document preparation and scheduling.
With nearly a decade of experience in the office, Danine is a familiar point of contact for our clients and enjoys helping Celia provide a smooth experience for clients as they navigate their estate planning or probate needs.

Michelle Christie
With a career spanning 25 years at the firm of Celia J. Melanson Barrister & Solicitor Inc., Michelle possesses a great deal of knowledge of the processes involved in real property transactions and is dedicated to meeting our clients’ needs.
Michelle serves as both Office Manager and Property Assistant in the firm, efficiently coordinating property transactions and taking care of our accounting. She takes great pride in making sure all clients are handled professionally and with efficiency.

Probate of Estates
We help clients navigate the process of dealing with an estate following death. We understand that this can be an overwhelming process for a client during an already difficult time. We will assist with reviewing the estate and, advising of the steps required in dealing with the estate. This includes preparing an application for a grant from the Probate Court, if required, and all necessary documents required for the probate court.
